I would say I have lived 95% of my life with a glass half empty narrative. I never believed anything would go my way. I never saw the point in being optimistic because we’re always let down in the end anyway, right?

there are so many reasons to believe life works against you. to believe there is no point in trying because everything eventually turns to shit.

but the most important thing I have learned this past year — is that you get what you expect.

there has to be a contrast to our lives. there has to be lows because without them there would be no highs. this contrast is not something to fear, but to embrace.

every day we are challenged to find the good. to stay in alignment with our best selves. to flow through our days instead of being dragged through our days.

it’s 2020. you will be faced with this contrast everywhere you look.

traffic. deadlines. bills. relationships. alerts and notifications.

— but how you choose to face this contrast — defines you.

throughout the past few weeks I have had to make extreme efforts to stay aligned. the voice in my head (aka my ego) loves to play the victim. she loves to scream and shout and point at everything that goes wrong as if saying “AHA! I told you life sucks. just give up already. you are doomed anyway”

it’d be real easy to let that narrative take over. trust me, my ego works very hard to be heard. but every day I made the effort to choose again.

choose faith. choose hope. choose joy. choose compassion. choose connection. choose love.

I invite you to join me in choosing again. choose to look at the contrast in your days as reminders of what you want, and what you do not want.

I want effortless joy. I want to rise to meet challenges. I want connection. I want pleasure. I want love.

what do you choose?
