stress.
I was going to start this caption with “it’s that time of year” but let’s be honest, these days stress is an every day battle — no matter the season.
I have suffered from adrenal fatigue for a long time & it wasn’t until this past year I decided to give my lil adrenals the love they deserve. if you are unfamiliar with this term, you can think of your adrenals like the workers that are in charge of producing hormones that help regulate your metabolism, immune system, blood pressure, response to stress & other essential functions.
& like any worker in today’s society, they get burnt out too. why? chronic stress. mental stress. physical stress. emotional stress. stress taxes the adrenals & so, we experience symptoms like — extreme fatigue, sleep disturbances, feeling overwhelmed by or unable to cope with everyday stress, hair loss, cravings for salty & sweet foods, difficulty concentrating//brain fog, poor digestion, weight gain (especially abdominal), muscle & joint pain, excessive yawning, anxiousness & worry.
sound like you? SAME! well fret not, because there are many things we can do to start repairing the damage & getting our adrenals working optimally again.
— cut out caffeine! caffeine signals to the adrenals to release cortisol (stress hormone)which is the exact opposite of what we want for recovery. this was the first step I took toward recovering & I am still riding the decaf/matcha train.
— eat breakfast within 1-2 hours of waking! when we are in a fasted state our blood sugar levels decrease & the adrenals start producing excess cortisol.
— remove processed foods! these put an insane amount of stress on the body & we need to focusing on lowering stress as much as we can.
— SLEEP! sleep. sleep. sleep. sleep. sleep.
— use the gifts from mother nature herself! #ad you all know how much I love my herbs & adaptogens to help our bodies recover holistically which is why I have been loving @wishgardenherbs Deep Stress Adrenal Rescue tincture. use code EMMA20 & show your adrenals some love ❣️
