“INDIAN HEALING CLAY. World’s most powerful facial. DEEP PORE CLEANSING!"
Man oh MAN this stuff is a godsend. After a week in the sun, my face needed some serious TLC. I did my best to protect my face but TBH those early morning coffees sitting outside got me. Okay enough about me. I’ll get to it – prepare to be enlightened on just how fantastic this sh*t is.
WHAT IS IT?
The Aztec Indian deep pore cleansing mask contains 100% natural calcium bentonite clay, a natural compound known for its ability to draw out toxins from the skin. It is a natural facial cleanser for the skin with NO added ingredients, no parabens, no chemicals, just miraculous Aztec bentonite powder that your skin will fricken eat up.
WHY IS IT SO GREAT?
Purifies your pores! When activated with liquid, it acts like a magnet and a sponge, binding to and sopping up positively charged impurities – such as heavy metals, excess sebum, and bacteria. Basically – it pulls pollutants and ‘sludge’ out of the skin.
Absorbs Excess Oils. So many people who battle oily skin think they should use harsh, alcohol-based products to dry it out – a big no-no! When you strip away natural oils, your skin over-produces them to compensate. Instead, go for more natural ingredients – AKA bentonite clay. The clay helps balance sebum levels and is super-absorbent – some say it has “unparalleled oil-drawing capabilities.”
Remineralizes. This mineral-rich clay does more than eliminate impurities. After it does its job detoxifying, it infuses skin with minerals, including calcium, magnesium, potassium, and silicon.
Gentle & Effective Exfoliator. Bentonite granules provide additional cleansing by sloughing away dead skin cells. Unlike your typical harsh exfoliants that can damage skin, this fine powder gently buffs away dry, flaky skin, leaving your complexion softer, smoother, and healthier!
Clarifies Acne. One of the most common uses for this clay is as a natural alternative to the standard store-bought topical spot treatments. According to the Mayo Clinic, the main causes of acne are oil production, dead skin cells, clogged pores, and bacteria – and guess what addresses them all
Evens Skin Tone and Reduces Scarring. As I have mentioned – the clay helps to remove toxins from your pores which allow the skin to heal and reduces inflammation. Bentonite clay helps in the lightening of acne marks on the face and helps to get rid of scar tissues and stretch marks. Since most acne scars are red in color the clay can help heal the skin and reduce inflammation and redness.
HOW TO GET YOUR FACIAL ON:
Mix AZTEC SECRET INDIAN HEALING CLAY with equal parts of apple cider vinegar* or water. Do not mix with metal bowls or utensils! Interestingly, using metal removes the clay’s healing powers by stripping out its electric charge, which is the thing that draws out toxins from your skin. They say it is best to use a glass, pottery, or wooden bowl – I use this cute lil bowl.
Stir the mixture until it is a smooth paste – add more clay or liquid as needed. Apply 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick layer of clay to the face or other areas and let it dry. Drying times vary, but they say around 5 minutes for delicate skin and 15- 20 minutes for normal skin. You will feel a pulling and tightening sensation – it is AMAZING.
Remove clay by washing with warm water. A slight redness usually appears afterward but it is normal and fades after ~30 min. This is normal and will disappear in approximately 30 minutes.
WAYS TO USE IT!
On the Skin: Of course – as a magical face mask – but it can be used externally in many ways! You can apply a small paste of bentonite clay and water on skin irritations like blemishes, insect bites, cuts, burns, skin itching from eczema, psoriasis, chickenpox, etc.
In your Hair: Bentonite clay benefits your scalp and strands the same way it does your skin! It clarifies, eliminates toxins, removes product build-up, sops up excess oil, and leaves hair super-clean. Okay so, here’s the how-to: Combine bentonite clay powder, apple cider vinegar, and essential oils (like rosemary or lavender) until it reaches a yogurt-like consistency. Divide hair into sections and apply liberally. Leave on for 15 to 20 minutes (just don’t let it harden!) and rinse thoroughly.
Armpit Detox: Yes, I use a mix of bentonite clay and apple cider vinegar to detox my armpits!!! Bentonite absorbs moisture and eliminates odor-causing bacteria, leaving less order and lower levels of perspiration. Today’s typical deodorant is filled with toxins that are harmful to the lymph that resides in your pits. The clay helps speed up the natural deodorant adjustment period and can help pull some of the toxic chemicals out of the skin and tissue of the armpits.
Detox Bath: I sometimes add about 1/4 cup of bentonite clay to bath water – it is a detox bath that leaves the skin smooth and glowing!
Oral Health: Because of its ability to bind to heavy metals and toxins as well as to provide minerals, many people make their own toothpaste using this clay. Check out this recipe if you are interested! Wellness Mama’s Remineralizing Tooth Powder Recipe.
Digestive Problems or Nausea: You can take 1/2 tsp of bentonite clay in water to help relieve sickness. Believe it or not, antacid compounds from clays are common ingredients in anti-nausea medicines. This works for pets, too! For pets that are sick, vomiting or showing signs of illness, you can add bentonite to their water to absorb the toxins making them ill.
Gut Health & Energy: By drinking 1/2 to 1 teaspoon most days in a cup of water the clay can help improve digestion and give a boost of energy. Make sure that any clay taken internally is labeled safe for internal use. I use the Aztec clay but this is also a great one!
Other Uses: I haven’t needed any of these uses but after doing some research there are cases of bentonite and other healing clays being used internally to help reduce radiation exposure, in alternative cancer treatments, and in MRSA infections. It can also greatly help with parasite removal.
